History
Established in 1986 by Dr Sampuran Singh and Dr Paul Cartwright to provide a comprehensive source for process safety advice, Chilworth Technology is recognised today as a global provider of expert knowledge and quality test data. The Chilworth Group has international consulting bases in the UK, USA, Italy, France and India and laboratories in both the Chilworth Science Park (Southampton, England) and Plainsboro (NJ, USA).

Chilworth employs Doctorate Engineering and Scientific staff along with Consultant Engineers, Scientists and Technicians. Our senior consultants are internationally recognised experts in their specialist fields, and many have served on national and international standards committees.
In the UK our GLP compliant laboratories offer industrial explosion hazard and chemical reaction evaluation, electrostatic testing, as well as a full range of regulatory testing services for NONS, SDS, CHIP and transport applications. Our electrostatic services cover profiling of powders, films and liquids for both production handling problems and electrostatic ignition hazards.
Chilworth specialist test apparatus includes a 20L sphere, minimum ignition temperature ovens, auto flammability cells, and adiabatic storage test equipment. In our chemical reaction laboratory we have a Mettler RC1, adiabatic pressure dewar calorimeter, isothermal calorimeter, a differential scanning calorimeter and glass evolution equipment. Whilst in our electrostatics laboratory we have powder resistivity, liquid conductivity, charge decay time and powder chargeability equipment.
All this backed-up by Chilworth a company with thousands of man hours of experience in providing process safety solutions for our clients. Producing customised test regimes to solve particular plant problems, undertaking hazardous area classification, electrostatic audits and most recently ATEX137 and DSEAR audits. And should the unthinkable happen we are also here to provide rapid response for incident investigation and, if necessary, expert witness services.
The client base of Chilworth Technology covers more than 20 countries, and includes manufacturing companies in the fine chemicals/pharmaceutical, bulk organics, food stuffs, paints, resins/plastics, dyestuffs, pigments, agrochemicals, soaps/detergents, oil/petrochemicals, and the legal and insurance fields.
With increasing emphasis within industry on safe plant and processing the role of Chilworth Technology as a centre for process safety expertise has never been more important. Join other great companies such as Glaxosmithkline, Unilever, BASF, Pfizer, Tate & Lyle, Nestle, BP and others in making Chilworth part of your safety team.
